Resources to Address the Prescription Opioid Abuse Epidemic

AAOA has worked with its national partners to create a suite of resources, videos and toolkits to help educate consumers about safe use, storage and disposal of prescription opioids.

What Can You Do?

Consumer Resources

AAOA has worked with its partners, the National Consumers League and HealthyWomen, on educational resources tailored for different consumers. We also developed educational videos for patients featuring PAs from the Cleveland Clinic.

Pharmacy Toolkit

In coordination with our pharmacy partners, the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) and state pharmacy associations, we developed a suite of resources to help pharmacists engage with and educate patients about the safe use, storage and disposal of prescription opioids.

Pledge to Pause

In partnership with the PA Foundation, AAOA is mobilizing PA students across the country to pledge to pause and talk with patients about the rights, risks and responsibilities associated with prescription opioids before prescribing.
